INTRODUCTION
My name is Chen Wei Seng and I am a doctor practicing in Malaysia.
EDUCATION
I had my primary education at the Bukit Bintang Boys Primary School 1
(1969 - 1974), and my secondary school education at the Bukit Bintang Boys
Secondary School (1975 - 1981). I entered the Medical Faculty of University
of Malaya in 1982. I graduated from the Medical Faculty of University of
Malaya in 1987 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.
MY WORK
I was posted to the Malacca General Hospital to do my housemanship
training. In 1987, Malacca was a quiet town, so different from the hustle and
bustle of the city where I grew up (Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya). I went
through the normal rotation for houseman training; general surgery,
orthopaedic surgery, paediatrics, internal medicine and primary care medicine
at the out-patient department and emergency unit. Upon completion of
housemanship I joined the Medical and Dental Corps of the Malaysian Armed
Forces. For more of my days in the Army, go to the link below.
It was a two year stint in the Army (1988-1990) and then it's back to
the Malacca General Hospital that I had enjoyed my stay earlier. I joined the
Orthopaedics Surgery and Traumatology Unit upon my return. I spent three
years here, and thoroughly enjoyed my work in this unit. I went for a short
course in Sports Medicine, and then got myself attached to the Malacca Soccer
team as one of their team doctors and got the chance to travel with the team
in the Semi-pro league matches of the Malaysia Cup at that time. Besides
that, I also had the opportunity to work as one of the track doctors on the
Medical Team at the Malaysian Motorcycle Grand-prix in Shah Alam in 1992.
I would have stayed on in Malacca if not for an offer to join a group
practice back in Petaling Jaya, my home town. That was in 1993. I am
currently a partner with the Klinik Alam Medic Group. My work includes family
medicine and occupational safety and health medicine.
PERSONAL INTERESTS
I had recently completed an external program leading to a Masters
in Medicine (Family Medicine) and a Certificate in Aviation Medicine from
Edith Cowan University, Perth, Australia.
My interest in computer dates back to the Apple-2 days and writing
simple programs in BASIC. My current computer runs on Pentium 4
Windows 2000. My other unit is a
uses an AMD450 processor. My kids use the DELL 233MMX. I use a Mitac laptop
AMD350 during work and travel.
I had been active in sports since school days and played almost every
game. I represented my secondary school, Bukit Bintang Boys' in hockey. Today
I play only tennis once a week. Golf is tempting, but my wife is already an
Internet widow, so I do not wish to make her a golf widow too.
My family is my greatest asset, and the time spent watching my three children
grow is so fulfilling and enriching emotionally. My wife teaches in a
secondary school and is also the full time tutor to our children.

My remaining hours in the day aside from the above activities are spent
in front of the television. I like the news on CNN, Bloomberg and the local
news on TV3. I also enjoy watching motor-sports, soccer and tennis. The movies are too long, so I leave them out of my menu.
Sometimes I am forced to watch cartoons because my sons must get their daily
dose of Popeye and Tom & Jerry.
